Have You Accepted God's Gift of Love, Salvation through His Son Jesus Christ? Tell Me More
The Simple Devotions Logo
With the new additions, look, and layout of Simple Devotions it was decided that
it was time for a logo, one that would identify Simple Devotions sites, while
providing an important reminder to Christians of the love, and purpose of Christ.
The new logo features three crosses on a hill, symbolic of the crucifiction
at Golgatha. One cross however, stands out; that is the cross of Jesus Christ
who
is the center, and main focus of Christianity. This serves as a reminder that
He came to this earth and was killed for OUR transgressions (Romans 5:6). The
other two cross are symbolic of the other two men, criminals who were crucified
along
side with
Christ. It is important for us to remember that in order to pay our sins, Jesus
died the death of a criminal, although He had not done anything wrong,
and never sinned himself (1 Peter 2:22). Even Pontius Pilate who ordered the execution
exclaimed Christ's
innocence! (Luke 23:22)
These two crosses should also remind us of the infinite grace of Christ, that salvation is available for all who believe in Him. We are reminded of the criminal who received salvation on the cross, not by any good deed, but through his faith that Christ was the almighty God. This criminal professed that Christ was in fact the sinless Son of God, a profession for which He received entrance into Heaven (Luke 23:40-43).
At the same time, the other criminal mocked Christ (Luke 23:39), just as did many in the crowd (Luke 23:35-38). As Christians we will have both our faith, and our decision to follow Christ mocked and flaunted by others. We must remember that even those who mocked Christ and who crucified Him later saw the wrath of God and believed (Luke 23:47-48). Despite their transgressions against us, we must remember that not all is lost and hope that they too see the light of Christ... before it is too late as it was with the other criminal.
Romans 5:6
[6] For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
1 Peter 2:22
[22] Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
Luke 23:22
[22] And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him go.
Luke 23:40-43
[40] But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? [41] And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. [42] And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. [43] And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
Luke 23:39
[39] And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
Luke 23:35-38
[35] And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God. [36] And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar, [37] And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself. [38] And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
Luke 23:47-48
[47] Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man. [48] And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, smote their breasts, and returned.
