Statement of Faith

The goal of Simple Devotion Ministries is to encourage Christians to examine their lives, and to focus on serving God and incorporating His Word into their everyday activities.

To accomplish this goal, we rely on the Bible as the Only Word of God, and base our devotions and materials on the following statements of faith:

The Bible is the Word of God and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness (2 Tim 3:16)
There is one God (Isaiah 44:6)
The Father, the Son [Jesus], and the Holy Spirit are the three distinct personages of God, co-existing eternally as one (Deut 6:4, more)
Man was created in the image of God (Gen 1:27), but was then separated from God by his sinful nature (Isaiah 59:2)
Jesus Christ, the Son of God (Matt 3:17) came to earth to teach truth (John 18:37) and then to die as a propitiation for our sins (Rom 5:8-10). He then rose again and was seen on the first day of the week fulfilling the prophecies (John 20:19-20)
Salvation (freedom from our sins and eternal death) is received by faith in Jesus Christ and the Gospel [his life, death, burial, and resurrection] (John 3:16), and not by the works we do (Ephesians 2:8-9, more)
All who believe in Christ and confess their sins receive salvation, becoming born-again and obtain the right to be a child of God (John 1:12-13, more)
As Christians, we are to abide by the standards set in the Holy Bible (James 1:22-26)

2 Timothy 3:16
[16] All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Isaiah 44:6
[6] Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

Romans 5:8-10
[8] But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. [9] Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. [10] For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

John 20:19-20
[19] Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. [20] And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.

John 3:16
[16] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

James 1:22-26
[22] But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. [23] For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: [24] For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. [25] But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. [26] If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
