God is Omnipotent

Not only does the Bible tell us that God is the only god, the creator of all things, the god that was, is, and will always be, but it also tells us exactly what God can, and cannot do.

Luke sums up the power of God quite nicely by saying, "nothing is impossible with God." (Luke 1:37) So if nothing is impossible with God, can anything stop Him?

Job proclaims the power of God by saying, "I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted." (Job 42:2) Proverbs 21:30 also tells us that nothing can even compare or stand up to God's power, by saying, "There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the LORD."

Along with not being able to stop God, we are told there is nothing that can even reverse what He has done! Job tells of this power by saying, "To God belong wisdom and power; counsel and understanding are his. What He tears down cannot be rebuilt; the man he imprisons cannot be released. If He holds back the waters, there is drought; if He lets them loose, they devastate the land." (Job 12:13-15)
This means when God says something, or does something, it is final! God tells Isaiah this when He says, "Yes, and from ancient days I am He. No one can deliver out of my hand. When I act, who can reverse it?" (Isaiah 43:13)

All of these verses tell us that God is Omnipotent, or All-Powerful. There is no one that can stop Him from carrying out His will, and there is no one who can change Him, or overturn His decision. HE holds all the authority (Jude 1:24-25).

Luke 1:37
[37] For with God nothing shall be impossible.

Job 42:2
[2] I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee.

Job 12:13-15
[13] With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding. [14] Behold, he breaketh down, and it cannot be built again: he shutteth up a man, and there can be no opening. [15] Behold, he withholdeth the waters, and they dry up: also he sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth.

Isaiah 43:13
[13] Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?

Jude 1:24-25
[24] Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, [25] To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and for ever. Amen.
