Tolle's New Age Belief |
| The Bible is the Word of God |
The
Bible is a collection of writings by man, and once enlightened the reader
will know which verses are truth. |
|
| There is one God |
God
is the impersonal force or life essence behind all life forms. The God
of the Bible is the God that man made in his own image... "a mental idol." |
|
| The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are 3 in one |
The
Bible is a collection of writings by man, and once enlightened the reader
will know which verses are truth. |
|
| Man was created in the Image of God |
God
is a spiritual life force. Man turned the infinite into an image of himself. |
|
| Salvation is received by faith in Jesus Christ (life,
death, and resurrection) and not by our works |
Christ
did not come to die, but rather to show us how to live, or the "Christ
Consciousness." Salvation is realizing one's Christ Consciousness, or the
God that is in us all. |
|
| All who believe in Christ become Children of God |
We
already pocess the "source of all power," regardless of of acceptance of
Christ. |
|
| As Christians we are to abide by the standards set in the Holy Bible |
"There
are millions of ways to be a human being, and many paths to what you call
God." - Oprah Winfrey |
|
| No man can contradict/ edit the Word of God |
The
Bible is only one source of truth (although not in its entirety)... each
person must live as he/ she feels correct, and interpret the Bible as he
/she believes. |

Notes: There are many different teachings
in the New Age Movement, along with many different sects. This specifically
applies to one of the more popular movements lead by Oprah Winfrey and
best seller Eckhart Tolle.
According to Oprah, Tolle "is a preimenent spiritual leader" and she
holds him to be a "prophet for... the 21st century." While Oprah maintains
that Tolle's teachings do not contradict Christianity, Tolle himself
has said that he does not give death or the after-life any thought. This
New Age religion also denounces the importance of Christ's death, as
Oprah has publicly chided that when she was a Baptist she thought it
was all about His [Jesus'] death and resurrection, when it was really
about Him coming to "show us how to do it... To show us the Christ consciousness
that he had, and that consciousness abides with all of us."
When asked if Christ was the only way to Heaven, Oprah emphatically replied,
"There can't possibly be one way," showing us that her and Tolle's New
Age beliefs are really a combination between Universalism and Gnosticism...
and nothing new at all.
