I Will Come to You
I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
- John 14:18
- John 14:18
Have you ever felt like no one understands you, or that you are all alone? Have you ever wondered what to do next, or even if it was worth the struggle? I have.
I remember those times as if they were yesterday. I remember huddling in a corner, just sitting there trying to sort everything out. Only a few days before I had been a joyful, life filled young man, eager for each day to begin... yet overnight my life was shattered, left only with pain and thoughts of suicide.
Even more clearly, I remember telling God that "I needed a break." Looking towards the sky, I silently told Him that I still loved Him, but that I just needed some time to myself; time to sort things out. That was probably the worst decision I made, as for several months I continued living in a dark tunnel, one that had no end in sight.
Yet, after abandoning my Bible and church, and after moving myself away from God through that silent prayer, God refused to move away from me. As I maneuvered through that dark tunnel, seemingly on my own, God stayed right with me, waiting for me to see the light He was shining for me. When I finally admitted I had gotten myself lost, God was right there with a map and lantern, ready to lead me back.
Looking at John 14:18, it just amazes me what a loving, merciful God we have. A God who doesn't force us to come to Him, but will come to us, even when we are walking away. A God who will let nothing, absolutely nothing separate His children from His love (Romans 8:38-39).
No matter where you are in life, whether you are on the top of the world, or stuck in your own personal Hell, God is there, waiting for you to accept His comfort. He is there, waiting for you to trust on Him to lead the way. Even if you have decided to leave Him, He will not leave you. He will never forsake you, or give up on you. For surely He will be with you, until the ends of the Earth (Matthew 28:20).

Thank you. Very concise. I know that love you describe. God did not desert me throughout my sinful life. Now He is showing me His way!

This is very true! I have experienced God's mercy and it is amazing that he remains faithful even though we are far away. :)

Truly a blessed word. Thank you. More proof that He always meets us at our point of need.

Romans 8:38-39
[38] For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, [39] Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Matthew 28:20
[20] Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
